Irish Rover Ballooning

Weather conditions for flying

  1. Wind affects every part of a flight. The best wind conditions are 4-6 mph and 7-9 mph max
  2. The visibility must be higher than 1-2 miles for a hot air balloon to fly legally
  3. Rain and storms will cause the flight to be delayed or cancelled. Storms can cause winds to be too high for safe ballooning even if the storm is 75 to 100 miles away.
